We're getting kind of close now...

Well, its been a while since I did any blogging. Life has just gotten busier and crazier as my wife has gotten pregnant-er. We are at 36 weeks now and after visiting the doctor yesterday, we found out that she is 1-2cm dilated, which is great news. The doctor was happy that her body was "progressing nicely". This of course gave me a slight heart attack because all I could think was "oh God, the GO bag isn't complete yet!" So after we called Grandma and G-Ma, and they had their respective mini heart attacks, the To-Do list in my head suddenly got very packed. Now I am well aware that a pregnant woman can stay slightly dilated for weeks, this news about my wife kind of means that its really "any day now". So this morning I awoke with a sense of urgency, made a quick run to CVS and then dropped of my car to have the inspection done and get two new front tires. I feel like there are still so many things to complete, but I know that we've been more ready than the average couple for a long time. The Baby room has been mostly complete for a few weeks now, in an attempt to get the dog used to all the new baby products, toys she can't touch, etc. And she's really been doing a great job. Good girl Disa. I'm so proud of you.

Now as my wife and I sit here and prepare for our visit with the Adoption Social Worker on Monday, we're flipping through channels and we happen to come across the Maury show. As usual its a paternity test episode, and we're watching the mother of the child, and her mother, scream happily at Joe who was just told "you ARE the father!". Its just laughable that I have 3 friends writing reference letters on my behalf, reiterating why I would be a good adoptive parent to my wife's baby. Sigh. What a crazy world we live in. Though it has recently gotten less crazy, with Prop8 being overturned I have some confidence that the world our son or daughter will grow up in will be somewhat less crazy than the world we've grown up in thusfar.

So anyway, back to my To-Do listS.
